At Harpeth Hall, ambitions become achievements and girls become purposeful young women who make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world.
An independent, college-preparatory school for students in 5th through 12th grades, Harpeth Hall has designed every aspect of the school experience with girls in mind. The student council president is a girl. The captain of the state title-winning soccer team is a girl. The leader of our World championship-qualifying robotics team is a girl. At Harpeth Hall, we affirm that every day, every girl is a leader. We know how girls learn best, and we provide an environment where our students are embraced for who they are and encouraged in their intellectual curiosity. In the classroom, our students discover by doing. From power tools to telescopes, Harpeth Hall teachers create hands-on experiences that elevate concepts beyond the textbook and make lessons memorable. Harpeth Hall’s dynamic and passionate faculty are at the heart of the girls’ excellent academic outcomes. At Harpeth Hall, 100% of students go on to attend college or university. Harpeth Hall prepares girls to think outside familiar boundaries and engage in a vibrant academic environment that values diversity of thought and difference of opinion. Our school’s premier programs exemplify the educational excellence at Harpeth Hall. The SEEK and Global Scholars programs encourage student-directed, research-based learning for deeper understanding of technological advancements, scientific curiosities, and global issues. Public Purpose offers meaningful opportunities for service and community building. During our three-week Winterim program each January, upper school students develop new interests, travel to unfamiliar places, explore potential careers, and create memories for a lifetime. Unique teaching spaces such as the Design Den and the Stephanie Balmer Garden for Student Engagement give students a place to hammer, saw, and get their hands dirty as they learn. In 2022, Harpeth Hall celebrated the grand opening of the Bullard Bright IDEA Lab — an expansive space where students and faculty take creativity and innovation to the next level. In addition to a podcast studio and a power-tool-filled maker space, the Bright IDEA Lab is also home to the school's robotics team, which earned a spot at the VEX Robotics World Championship in 2022. At Harpeth Hall, students rise to intellectual challenges, seek knowledge, and apply what they learn to better understand themselves and others. That mission-driven connection carries throughout Harpeth Hall’s entire community and across the school’s beautiful 44-acre campus. Beyond the classroom, our students are poets, dancers, actresses, musicians, painters, filmmakers, and that is just the beginning. From center stage to center court, Harpeth Hall students experience the synergy of creativity, confidence, and collaboration. In athletics, students can aspire to follow in the footsteps of Harpeth Hall’s high school state champions, Division I college athletes, and Olympic medal-winning alumnae, or – under the guidance and encouragement of our coaches – simply enjoy trying a new activity. In the 2021-2022, Harpeth Hall set an athletics program milestone winning a record five state titles — the most ever in one school year. There are 13 sports to choose from in both middle school and upper school, and all students are encouraged to be active as they earn the confidence for a lifetime of health and well-being. That spirit of involvement extends to clubs and extracurricular activities. From Model United Nations and Jane Austen to chess and rock band, students can explore their interests and discover new passions. Through these experiences, Harpeth Hall students cultivate a connection with their classmates and celebrate each other's successes as if they were their own. At Harpeth Hall, students develop confidence and new skills as they imagine their brightest future. For more than 155 years, Harpeth Hall has held true to the idea that girls deserve an excellent education full of possibilities and purpose.
